We have a winner!

Bob Neller was a master ventriloquist, both as performer and ventriloquist technician. He was also one of the art's most sought after mentors. While Bob is no longer with us, we are fortunate he recorded his unique method for future generations of ventriloquists. On this one hour CD Bob explains and demonstrates how to be a flawless ventriloquist. Prepared from his more than 40 year's performing experience, this resource will definitely stand the test of time. Bob's explanation of Distant Voice production, by the way, is superb.

This CD retails for $9.95 Postpaid, but since Bill Biles (NC) was the 10th respondent to this post, he will receive this one FREE. Congratulations, Bill!

  7. I remember the cassette versions well - in fact, I produced them for Bob Neller for a period of years.

    Hi Mr.D,
I have aways been a great fan of Ventriloquism...
I have a hand puppet but I think I would be taking more seriously with a "real" one... You know, one with eyes and mouth that move... all the ones ive seen (even on E-bay) are very expensive... Is there a place where I could purchase one that not a lot of money? Maybe a used one or one that might neeed a little work? Thanks... -Howie-

  9. Like so many items, the phrase "you get what you pay for" applies to ventrloquist dummies as well. Ebay is the place to watch - good luck to you.

  10. Howie: if you dont mind to have non-unique vent figure for practising, apart from ebay, there are online shops selling basic figure (only moving mouth) as cheap as $55. Characters like Charlie McCarthy, Mortimer Snerd, Howdy Doody, Danny O Day, Slappy, etc. Do a search in google for the term Ventriloquist Dummy.

If you are searching for budget pro vent figure, usually in the range of $200 and above, ebay is a very good source. Clinton is also selling his stock figures at http://maherstudios.blogspot.com

Mr. Myers I would check these out http://kevskits.blogspot.com/ they are made by Mr. Detweiler's son and are a great price they may only be 30" but they are an awesome starting point.

  12. Good suggestions, but if a basic doll is purchased I would suggest having it converted to hollow body with head on headpost. (I can help you with that.) Otherwise it's just too difficult to bring to "life" and you will soon become discouraged using it.
