Movie Trivia

Question:  My mom asked a question that has me stumped. Late the other night she was watching an old movie with Barbara Stanwyck which had a ventriloquist character in it, with a dummy named “Al”.   She didn’t get the title of the movie, but said it could have been late 40’s or early 50’s. Any clue as to who the vent and dummy are?    Thanks!   Melissa

  2. "The Miracle Woman" is a 1931 Frank Capra film that is touted as one of the best early Stanwyck films. Her role was inspired by the Aimee Semple McPherson story, an evangelist of the 1920s and 30s who founded the Foursquare Gospel Church.

  3. The ventriloquist is played by David Manners. You can find a clip of the movie on YouTube here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbQpVsTeDkg and can watch the vent starting at the 6:45 minute mark.

Nope...sorry. It's "The Miracle Woman." David Manners plays a blind ventriloquist. (I got my old movies mixed up there for a moment)

I bought this on DVD a few weeks ago but not watched it yet ......As there is 'vent' interest I think it will be playing tonight, David Manners is best remembered for the romantic leading man roles he played in early monster movies, I hope his role as a ventriloquist is not 'horrific!@
