Shop Talk

Decisions have been at least partially made in regards to the Lovik figure Tom refers to in the post above. I'm going to finish him bald on top so hair around sides and back is an option - you see the head being sanded here (right) Or I can cover the entire head with hair - color still to be determined. I'd like to have him finished by the end of the week. We'll see how that works out.

love the character, I could see him as an Al Capone type mobster ! Also wanted to comment on your sander wheel! is it homemade?? looks like it would do a great job..Kepp up the good work, Dave.

  2. The sander wheel is called a "Sand-o-Flex". A commercial product. I purchased mine in 1970 and over the 40 years since it has saved me literally hundreds of hours of hand sanding. It's designed to sand contoured surfaces although it does not get into small and/or tight cracks and crevices - those still need to be had sanded.

  3. This could be my next character. I want an old Grandpa looking character, somewhat scowly, but not mean - just one full of wisdom and character!
