The birth of a Puppet

While I worked on a new ventrilo-ett character yesterday, I was again reminded of the amount of extra time and creative focus a new character takes. It's draining! Some are easier than others of course. I was reminded of this photo from the early 1970s showing Kevin in our shop, working on what were then the new Crazy Birds. With seven animations, their "birth" was achieved with more than a little struggle, trial and error. On the table in the foreground you see a number of ventriloquist dolls in the process of various upgrades - a scene not so different than what you would find in Kevin's shop today.
