William H. Andersen, known to his friends as "Bill", died this past Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at his home in Racine, Wisconsin, with his wife of 65 years, Vena, at his side.
Bill was a long time personal friend and a priceless support of our work at Maher Studios. The following post is an adaptation of a article I wrote for a 1990 issue of Newsy Vents about the career of Bill Andersen.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Anderson at my first conVENTion. A wonderful kind man. Bless his soul, may he rest in peace. Bill Smith

Bill's book on vent figure building was my first introduction into the art and I have such fond memories of that particular little book!
ReplyDeleteRIP & god bless.
I've thoroughly enjoyed Bill's books on ventriloquism for years. His were the first I purchased through Maher Studios back in the early eighties. I also have several letters from him, as he always answered when I would write, requesting information or answers to questions about figure making, even though I was only 14 at the time. He is sorely missed, but I am happy he is at peace. All my best to his family.
