From Bastiaan Verhorst
Dear Clinton,
Thank you for sending me the (beautiful) Certificate after I completed the Maher Course.
It feels a little bit lonely, now the booklets are back in their box.
At this moment I'm working with the 'Complete Idiot's Guide' from Taylor Mason.
That was a good tip on your website.
Í'm focused now on the movements and the body language of the figure; a world to discover.
Well, what I also learned from the Maher course:
it takes a lifetime to explore all the possibility's of this fascinating profession.
But that makes it a challenge!
And while I've finished the course, it's now time to plot my own course.
I do shows for elderly people, scene's and songs.
Next year ventriloquism will be a part of it.
Again, thank you, you gave me a good start.
And I'll stay visiting your interesting website.
With kind regards,
Bastiaan Verhorst.

ReplyDeleteI AM STILL A NOVIST I AM ALWAYS TRYING TO LEARN MORE AND PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE I LOVE THE VENT DOLL ON RIGHT WHO MADE HIM I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW
ReplyDeleteHi, Bastiaan. You are much further along than me, what with already performing and all. But I'm on a similar path with the Maher Course and Taylor Mason's book. A tip that might help you and others in the same boat on life-like movements of the figure is a DVD called "Manipulating Your Dummy." It's by ventriloquist Steve Taylor and is sold by him on his website (Google his name and thw word "ventriloquist.") It's very instructive and gives some good pointers. Good luck to you.
ReplyDeleteYes Lee, the ostrich has her holiday's ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe figure on the right is made by Jack Lathrop, known as Jackson Drums. A musician and vent- builder coming from Palm Bay.
And yes it is a lot of practice, but each day brings you a step forward and ... fun!
David, thank you for the tip!
ReplyDeleteBastiaan, David, all others, check out schoolshows.com and sign up for school assembly work. LD
ReplyDeleteTo Bastiaan: Reading all this makes me eager to start the course and learn to become a ventriloquist. I would love to use it during my (Bible-)teaching :-)
ReplyDeleteWell well, if that isn't my own brother!
ReplyDeleteYes Steven, it would be very usefull in your bibleclass. Friends of Clinton can assure you.
Well Clinton, perhaps a new pupil for you!
