McCarthy Hires A Secretary

This vintage Chase & Sanborn Coffee print ad was created to both entertain as well as sell coffee. I doubt Bergen wrote the lines (they are cute but in my opinion lacks the sharp Bergen wit), but Charlie's image likely caught the eye of the majority of readers turning the magazine pages so in that sense it made great product publicity. I've framed this unusual piece of ventriloquist memorabilia from my collection and by drawing will award it to Mel Hall.
